As BIM training centres teach the importance of BIM processes in construction design, it is crucial to understand how Revit, a BIM-compliant software, plays a major role in the construction lifecycle.

Revit in Design & Preconstruction

Using Revit, architects and engineers can create detailed 3D models that include information about a structure, its plumbing, electrical systems and more. This 3D model provides a bird’s eye view of the project that helps detect and address potential issues during the design phase of construction, thereby eliminating costly revisions.

During Construction

The 3D model created in the design phase helps construction teams to visualise the final output. These models can be updated in real time and can incorporate changes mentioned on-site, tracking the process of these changes while maintaining the original design intent.

Facility Management & Beyond

BIM models include comprehensive embedded data that is used by facility managers for maintenance and operational purposes, such as planning renovations or expansions.

Towards Demolition & Sustainability

A building’s material and structural data provided in a BIM model allows for more efficient recycling and waste management, reducing the environmental impact of demolition.
